The "Anna and the
King" Mass Wedding Photography Event
|
If you read our editor's page, you would know that the event took place at the "Anna
and the King" movie set at Clearwater Sanctuary, Batu Gajah in Perak, Malaysia.
Frankly, I have never attended a mass wedding photography session. One would think that it
must be impersonal and highly disorganized - what with so many people to be tended to and
clamouring to get the best shots for themselves. Not so we discovered, well at least for
the one that we attended this past Saturday. I must say the organizer Heritage Moments did
a good job at making sure that things went smoothly.
The couples - all 12 of them arrived at Clearwater Sanctuary Golf Club from Ipoh at about
11:00 AM. By which time the skies were really blue and plenty of sunlight for a perfect
shoot. If it wasn't for the scorching sun that day, I would call it a perfect day to
shoot. Well, I guess you just can't have your cake and eat it.
After a quick group shot in front of the "The Chedi Temple" (photo above) all 12 couples were quickly assigned into
groups to capture their blissful memories at the various locations on the set. These
locations were "The Elephant Pavilion", "Lakeside Terraces",
"Temple of Emerald Buddha", "Anna's House" and "King Mongkut's
Study". You can view some of the photos we captured
here.
In the morning session, brides were dressed in their Western styled white gown and grooms
in their suits. Though it was some what hot - many couples were seen having fun and taking
pictures of themselves with the auto focus cameras they brought along. We even caught Satoshi Tanaka and his bride Chizuka waltzing while
waiting for their turn (just like in the movie). After 2 hours or so, the first session
ended. They were transported back to the Clearwater Sanctuary club house for lunch.
The afternoon session resumed after lunch and the couples caught some rest while waiting
for their turns. There were 2 sets of costumes that were professionally replicated by the
bridal houses for this event. I even thought they were specially brought in from Thailand
or Hollywood. It was a longer session in the afternoon due to the wait but it was all
worthwhile as it was truly a chance of a lifetime.
The couples were transported back to Heritage Hotel, Ipoh in the late evening. A gala
dinner was held for them and their families. They were later presented with vouchers and a
certificate of participation.
It must have been a tiring day for these couples but I am sure the photos when developed
would make it all worthwhile.
