Which
is your wedding photo?

Wedding photos are pictures you take on your wedding day... not at
an unfamiliar studio somewhere in town.
Question: Why do couples like to take their 'wedding photos' before
their wedding day and that these particular photos are then considered
their wedding photos? I have always wondered that, shouldn't the
photos taken on the day itself be it at the church, or when the groom
arrive at the bride's house be some of the most significant photos of
your wedding? If that is so, then why do most couples opt to take
these supposedly 'wedding photos' weeks and sometimes months before
their actual wedding day by professionals and leave the photography on
the actual day itself to amateurs with 'idiot proof' cameras?
Don't get me wrong, I am not against these practices. No, no, not me -
I am all for freedom of choice. After all, it's your wedding. I just
fail to understand why would couples (and I can be excused since I am
not married. Have I mentioned this too many time already?) capture
moments which to me is utterly insignificant? Insignificant - for a
few reasons that is:
- It is not your wedding day.
- You do not look like this on your
wedding day.
- You don't smile, dress, stand or
even sit like what you see in those pictures. In short, it doesn't
look like you.
I feel photos on the actual wedding day
are the most important. Imagine looking back years later at pictures
that captures your mother shedding a tear seeing your husband giving
you a peck on the cheek? (I have personally seen this before,
unfortunately I did not have a camera then!) or your 5 year old nephew
insisting that he climbs in your wedding car with both of you? (I have
seen that too). These to me are the most memorable moments and are
worth capturing. And if you ask me, worth more than the few thousand
couples spend taking their 'wedding photos'.
