Etiquette Q&A
Q : I can only invite a few colleagues for my wedding dinner due to tight budget. What
shall I do?
A : Invite your colleagues verbally, and explain to them of your situation and that you'll
appreciate their discretion. Follow-up with the invitation card sent to their homes.
Q : What's the best way to refuse 'special requests' e.g. drinking, performing games,
etc. by friends?
A : Tell your friends politely to save their requests for later, after you have finished
your rounds. Make sure you come back to them, and have fun!.
Q : My wedding dinner falls on a weekday. How do I ensure my guests attend?
A : Inform your guests of your wedding date early (about 1 ½ months before your wedding,
about the time the invitation cards are sent out), giving them enough time to plan. Tell
them how important their presence would mean to you and the family.
Q : What should I do if the alcohol runs out?
A : Not to worry- most hotels/restaurants have back-up stock which you could purchase. If
not, you could always ask a friend to buy some beer from the nearest convenience store.
Q : I don't actually know some of the people attending my wedding or I have forgotten
their names. What shall I do?
A : Ask your Mum/Dad or relative to be around while making your rounds, so they can help
you out. Don't try to guess who they are or what their names are, you could end up
embarrasing yourself and them. The safest way is to be your charming self and thank them
for coming to your wedding.
