Arranging
Table Seating
|
Arranging table seating for guests at sit-down meal reception
can be a nightmare. Yes, this is one of the not-so-enjoyable part of planning a wedding.
You either have problems of who should sit with whom, and who shouldn't sit with whom, or
who should sit near whom. Also, you may have a problem of seating guests with special food
needs, i.e. vegetarian or instant food, i.e. band players and helpers. In order to
minimize your headaches, here's what you should do:
First, make a guest list to estimate the number of guests at your reception. This way,
you'll know how many tables you need.
Second, get the floor plan of your banquet room from the banquet manager showing the
location of tables (based on the estimated number of guests), stage, main table, pillars,
etc. Then, number the tables.
Third, enlarge the seating chart to a comfortable size (at least A3). Label the names of
the each guest who have confirmed their attendance on little pieces of 3M post-it notes.
Place the sticker notes around the tables, taking in consideration that who should sit
with whom, etc. The last you need is to put feuding relatives or friends at the same
table. Think of arranging table seating using sticker notes is like playing jigsaw puzzle!
Once you have confirmed the seating positions, make an official chart - making sure it's
large enough for guests to view and place it at strategic locations at the foyer of your
banquet room.
Good Luck!
