The process of registering a marriage in
Malaysia is actually quite simple. There are basically two stages

for your reference.
Stage 1 - Submission of Application
The place of registration is essentially predetermined by the home
address stated in your identification card. If your identity card
address is in Ampang, then your place of registration shall be in
Selangor. Check with your local registration office if unsure.
Once you have determined the place of registration, you and your
spouse must present yourselves at the marriage registration council.
You do not have to bring any witnesses at this juncture. However, you
need to bring the following documents:-

When called, proceed to the application counter. Hand in all the
necessary documents and ensure that you get a letter of appointment
and receipt for payment of registration (RM30).
The registration ceremony will normally be held 21 days after the date
of submission of application. During this period, your photographs
will be exhibited in the office of the council to allow the public to
object to the marriage. You can select the date of registration (any
day except Sundays and public holidays), but make sure it does not
exceed more than 6 months from the date of submission.
Day of registration
On the actual day of registration, please bring two witnesses (one for
you and and one for your spouse) to witness the registration ceremony,
