Rules for the Groom and His Bestman
These are simple things that if you are the groom should be able to
follow with relative ease:
- Plan ahead. We cannot stress
this enough especially for your suit or tux. Remember, planning
ahead means more time to select a suit/tux that you like best.
Also, it means more time to go to more shops and hence more
choices. One other important element is that you need to book in
advance if you are renting and if you are custom making your
suit/tux your tailor will need at least 3 months ahead.
- Complement your bride's gown.
Make sure your suit/tux complements the style of gown your bride
is wearing. You need to determine this way in advance (refer to
rule #1) to make sure that what you wear 'fits' with the theme.
- Remind your best man. Do not
assume that your best man would have a suit or one that looks
presentable. Make sure you ask to look at it. In any case you will
want to make sure that it complements yours.
- Keep to your budget. You are
already spending a lot. This is where you need to decide how much
you would spend on your suit/tux. If you attend a lot of formal
function, you may want to invest in a very good one since you will
be using it again. Otherwise, you may consider renting.
- Your day, your style. Hey,
it's your day. Wear what you feel is comfortable and reflect your
style. Otherwise you won't be enjoying your wedding at all.
