Some
things to watch out for when selecting the venue of your wedding dinner (cont.)
Friend B held his dinner at a Chinese restaurant. I am not picking on Chinese
restaurants here. Merely relying my friend's experience. On the big day itself, when all
guests started to arrive, the couple found out that they were not to have their dinner at
the originally agreed space which was the main hall. Because it was too late to argue,
they proceeded their dinner at the small crowded space given, which looked more like a
storage space. Compounded on that was that tables of 10 were changed to tables of 8
because of space constraints. Everything was cramped up, little walking space, chairs that
are not the same, same tables have green, blue and red plastic chairs placed at all
tables...and all. These were all happening when guests were waiting outside to be seated!
The final blow was that the dishes that was served was totally different from the agreed
menu! Can you imagine how they felt? On their wedding day? Lose face-lah!
So what B did was he didn't want to settle the outstanding bill with the restaurant
until they could meet face to face with the manager or owner of the restaurant. Guess
what? Nobody wanted to meet them! This really upset the couple. Worst of all the rep of
the restaurant offered to compensate 4 miserable tables to the couple for the 'MINOR'
inconvenience!
Now the story stops here. You decide how you want to judge but I merely want to alert
couples that they must know their rights and what can be done to rectify the wrongs. I am
not saying hotels are best and restaurants are the worst. However, you do have to be
careful of the place you select because you don't want a memory like that to remember your
wedding.
