6 Things to get Dad into the action

Mom shouldn't be getting all the action — what about Dad?

It is quite common for Moms to be involved in your wedding preparation. Dad seems to be the one that is quietly sitting by the sidelines watching the action go by. Have you ever thought about getting Dad involved? In fact, he should be involved and there are many things that he is good at and you should his strengths in these.

  1. Your wedding wheels. Assuming you have difficulty looking for the car you plan to use for your wedding. Who better to ask for help than your Dad? He can quite easily asks his friends and contacts. Before you know it you would get the car you need and it may even come with a driver.

  2. Friends who have gone to choose their wedding gown would tell you how having your Mom there may not be the best idea in the world. If you have not chosen your gown yet and Mom wants to come along, remember to get Dad to come. He will be more than happy to do it. And he can act as a balance to Mom's comments and idiosyncrasies about designs.

  3. Assuming your Dad reads and writes Chinese who better to ask than him to write those invitation cards addressed to relatives that only read Chinese.

  4. Mom driving you nuts? Fiancé isn't helping as much as you like him to? Trying to balance work and planning a wedding? Dad is the best sounding board. Take a break from it all, treat him to hi tea or dim sum on Sunday morning. Just the two of you. Trust us you and Dad will enjoy it.

  5. Last minute things to attend to? Missed out buying something? Dad to the rescue. You will realize this is the most resourceful and reliable man around when it comes to last minute things.

  6. A bit nervous about getting married? Dad is the best person to give you a different perspective.

It may seem that Dad is always keeping quiet but he is really raring to go. Give him a chance and you will see how good he is at getting things done.
