A Trattoria in the best Italian tradition - this was the inspiration that led
to the establishment of Kuala Lumpur's most talked about Italian restaurant opened in June
1996. Named after the steps
leading to its entrance, Scalini's "La Piccola Italia" is set in a hilltop
bungalow in the heart of Kuala Lumpur's Golden Triangle. Designed by internationally
renowned New York based architect Tony Chi, the interior is contemporary and stylish.
Seating 125 in air-conditioned comfort, a further 60 on the terrace and at least a dozen
at the thirty-foot-long bar the restaurant has a cosy but animated feel. The wood-burning
pizza oven and open kitchen together with the bustle of highly knowledgeable and
professional waiting staff add to the ambience.
At Scalini's, authentic regional
Italian fare has been elevated to gourmet cuisine. Derived from Tuscan and Roman classical
dishes, the cooking is executed in a contemporary style by world-class chef Giovani
Kormilas. The extensive menu is supplemented by a selection of pizzas and a daily changing set lunch menu. The
