Ipoh City (state capital)

Ipoh City is the home to many a miner who has made a fortune during the heydays of tin. Once a small kampung with dilapidated buildings, Ipoh, a town that tin built, did not pass with the demise of the tin industry.

Gua Tempurung

Believed to have existed since 8000 BC, Gua Tempurung is probably the largest natural limestone cave in Malaysia. Situated about 24km from Ipoh, the cave stretches for 1.5km and is made up of five huge domes whose ceilings resemble coconut shells. Each dome has different formations of stalagmites and stalactites as well as differing temperatures, water level, content of limestone and marble.

Teluk Intan Leaning Tower

Located 84km from Ipoh, this spectacular leaning tower is the pride of Teluk Intan. Reminiscent of the Leaning Tower of Pisa, this pagoda-like structure was built in 1885 by Leong Choon Choong, a Chinese contractor. The dominating 25.5m tower was once used for water storage.
