Poring Hot Springs
Located around the east side of Mount Kinabalu and some 43km from the Kinabalu
National Park is the Poring Hot Springs (also part of the Kinabalu Park). Here, you can
enjoy a soothing bath in the many Japanese-style bathtubs filled with warm mineral-rich
running water from the depths of the earth. The water contains sulfur, known for its
curative properties in curing skin problems. There is also a well-landscaped garden and
chalets that offer comfortable accommodation.
Flora
Besides the exhilarating experience of conquering the
mountain, Kinabalu Park is known for the abundance and diversity of its plant life within
one of the world's most ancient vegetation in the world. There are over 1200 species of
wild orchids and 40 varieties of oak in its forests, not to mention the countless
varieties of rhododendrons with blooms raging in hue from deep red to pale pink and white.
Masses of moss and ferns weigh down the trees of the Montane oak forest of the upper
regions. Flowers are to be seen everywhere; on the trees, in the shrubs, along the river
banks, on the forest floor, and even peeping out of the rocky crevices of the summit.
White Water Rafting
A must for thrill seekers who enjoy the heart stopping,
gut wrenching excitement of shooting the rapids! The Padas, Tamparuli, and Kiulu rivers
are among the many hot spots for this heart pounding sport.More
