Chinese New Year

Celebrated over a period of 15 days, beginning from the first day of the Chinese lunar
calendar, the New Year is a joyous occasion for all Chinese. The festival starts with a
family reunion dinner on New Years Eve and the giving of ang pow or red packets by
married adults to both non-married family members and visitors. During this time, it is
also customary to see almost all Chinese businesses close for several days.
