Ahmad Daniel is a successful businessman who runs a
family-owned financial institution. Daniel is also a typical
male playboy and happy-go-lucky, joyous individual who takes
each day as it comes. With his good looks and money, he
certainly has no lack of willing female admirers. However,
oddly enough, he's actually a humble person who's looking for
somebody who doesn't want him just for his money.
Enter Erra Fazira as Nurul Ain, a "kampung girl"
who is trying to make it in the big city armed with only her
hard-working and honest attitude. She's a stickler for her
principles and is contented with life the way it is. She
doesn't have any dreams of becoming a millionaire either!! And
realistically, this type of person is almost extinct in our
materialistic world nowadays. She's also content enough to be
able to support her own self and takes part-time classes to
improve her knowledge and skills.
Oddly enough, for a pretty girl like her, nobody except her
immediate boss, the supervisor Ruslan (Anuar Zain), has
noticed enough about it to go after her. Still, Ain doesn't
care for Ruslan's attentions and is forever rejecting his
advances. Also, there's this loan shark, Farouk (Shamsul Ghau
Ghau), who's trying to worm his way into Ain's arms through
her uncle, Pak Lang. What an ulat bulu !! And finally,
Ain's last suitor, the hero of the movie, Ahmad Daniel who is
so amazed and impressed with Ain's attitude and personality
that he falls in love with her at first sight.
The story continues with the various adventures of Daniel
in trying to win Ain's heart by pretending to be a humble and
poor guy. This is just another 'rich boy meets poor girl but
pretends to be poor boy in order to win her heart ' movie.
There are lots of hilarious gags and jokes here, but along the
way the plot just kept growing thinner and in the end, it's
left to the humour to really support the movie.
Still, at least the plot is kept uncomplicated and thus,
easy to absorb. Afdlin's portrayal of a conscientious playboy
is good enough but he has been cast in this role so often in
his previous films that it would be interesting to see him in
a different role. On the other hand, Erra Fazira has developed
into a full-fledged actress, with her versatility and talent
shining through here. Her character was portrayed in a
believable and practical manner, easily connecting with the
audience. Overall, the film is still very much a light-hearted
love movie and is entertaining enough.
