Chinese actress Zhang Zhi-Yi, star of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, which is
currently playing in cinemas, has reportedly demanded an astonishing 10 million Renminbi
(RM5 million) in fees for advertising roles, setting a record for the advertising
industry. This is not the first time the tempestuous actress has set tongues a-wagging.
A rumored romantic involvement with acclaimed Chinese director Zhang Yimou last year
also resulted in a minor scandal. Zhang Yimou also directed Zhang Zhi-Yi in her film
debut, the Cannes Film Festival award-winning The Road Home. Not One Less, another movie directed by
Zhang Yimou, was screened by GSC's International Screens in Malaysia recently and received
rave reviews from the local media.
