Kuala Lumpur, Fri August 4
- At a press conference for the movie 'Summer
Holiday', Chinese singer/actors Michael Wong, Ah Niu (both of whom
are Malaysian), Taiwanese star Richie Ren, Hong Kong star Sammi Cheng,
director Jingle Ma ('Tokyo Raiders')
and the Malaysian supporting cast Debbie Goh, Lavin Siau, Wymen Yong
and Mark Kwai Yoon (who are HVD artistes) were present.
Director Jingle Ma commented, "Malaysia is a good place to
shoot movies. I hope we will be back again." The stars created a
merry and jovial atmosphere as they joked among themselves and the
members of the press.
When Richie Ren said, "Sammi and I are only good friends. We
have a lot of affection for each other", Sammi laughed,
"What do you mean by 'affection'?", leaving Richie slightly
abashed. It was obvious to everyone that she loved to tease Richie.
Richie also said, "At Pulau Redang, it was so boring. There were
no KTVs" but Ah Niu instantly rebutted, "what do mean, no
KTVs?" Richie, looking embarrassed, then had to agreed,
"Yes, yes, there were KTVs" to laughter from everyone.
Richie then made another faux pas by saying, "On Pulau Redang,
we all lived together" to which Sammi again mercilessly teased,
"What do you mean, we all lived together?", causing laughter
again.
Malaysian singer/actor Ah Niu also became the butt of laughter when
he said, "I hope to become a better actor. Actually I have very
little talent", causing Jingle Ma to say, "What! You dare to
come on my set with so little talent!".
On a more serious note, Sammi revealed that her next movie would be
a Chinese costume drama. Richie Ren added, "I will concentrating
more on my music, movies take up too much time." Michael Wong
also commented, "Director Jingle Ma was great to work with. He's
so understanding and really encouraged us to do our best. We learned a
lot from him." A sentiment which everyone agreed with.
