Brother Says Nay To CBT
On Monday, July 3, Yeoh Lam Jit, 37, younger
brother of Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh, pleaded not guilty to charges of abetting Yap
Say Woon, 38, to commit criminal breach of trust (CBT) involving RM3.6 million worth of
shares in 1997. The offence, involving 960 lots of Malaysian Pacific Land Bhd shares which
had been entrusted to Yap, a remisier with Kuala Lumpur Securities at the time, was
allegedly committed between Oct 2 and Oct 21, 1997. Former Taiping Securities executive
director Harris Ismail, 39, was charged with the same offence.
Yeoh was later released on bail of RM80,000 and had his passport surrendered to the
court. Yap, Harris and Yeoh's case will be heard on July 31.
