From mutant Wolverine in the highly successful X-Men,
Hugh Jackman is on to becoming a hacker in a new upcoming movie which
will star John Travolta in the Warner Bros thriller, Swordfish.
According to reports, the actor from Down Under got the role of
Wolverine after Dougray Scott (Ever After, Mission
Impossible 2) backed out due to a clash in schedules. Scott
was filming MI2 then.
Swordfish is an espionage thriller, about a suave
intelligence agent who has to persuade a computer hacker, who was just
released from prison, to do a 'final job'. John Travolta will play the
spy, and Jackman, the hacker. Director Dominic Sena will helm the
project, and filming is schedule to commence at the end of August.
Currently, Jackman is filming with co-star Ashley Judd (Kiss the
Girls, Eye of the Beholder)
in Tony Goldwyn's Animal Husbandry, which is scheduled for a
2001 release.
Jackman is known for his films from Down Under such as The
Erskineville Kings and the Paperback Hero before he moved
up the popularity ladder after X-Men. He will be back as
Wolverine for the X-Men sequel which will be developed by 20th
Century Fox and Marvel Studios.
