Premier of 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' at GSC Mid Valley
Tiger, tiger burning bright
Former Malaysian
beauty queen and Bond girl Michelle Yeoh was at GSC Mid Valley, Kuala Lumpur yesterday
evening together with director Ang Lee to promote her movie Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Although tickets
to the charity premier were priced at RM50 a pop, there was a sizeable crowd waiting to
spend the evening in the presence or at least the vicinity of the local beauty turned
international cover girl.
When Yeoh finally
appeared on the ground floor, cinema patrons and shoppers alike quickly crammed
vantagepoints for a view of the proceedings. Most however, were unable to identify
'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' director Ang Lee who accompanied the now Hollywood-based
actress.
A drum
performance got things started, heralding Yeoh and Lee's welcoming speech. Together the
duo officially launched 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' in Malaysia and then proceeded to
the third floor where a deejay from local Chinese radio station, MY FM, interviewed the
stars who graciously thanked cinema goers for their support.
