Wahlberg
agrees to monkey around
Mark Wahlberg, star of The
Perfect Storm(which opens in Malaysia on July 20) and Three
Kings with George Cloony, has agreed to act in Tim Burton's
remake of the 1968 Planet Of The Apes, scheduled for release in
the summer of 2001. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Matt Damon (The
Talented Mr. Ripley) and director James Cameron are among
other stars considered for the movie, which is about an astronaut who
is marooned on an alien planet, where the sentient lifeform are
talking apes.
The original classic starred Charles Heston. Wahlberg will be
reprising his role as the nearly naked human prey of the apes. The
movie is set to start production in the next few months and Wahlberg
was quoted as saying, "Tim is the kind of guy where I just say
yes to whatever he wants. I said, 'What kind of ape do you want me to
play?' and Tim said, 'You're the human.'"
