Music: A R Rahman
Director: Subash Ghai
This is a normal love story with the
usual masala. It seems to be the trend of script writers these days to focus on
triangle love stories after ditching the straightforward ones.
The movie itself is quite
entertaining mostly because of the music. The music is enchanting and the dances very
refined. One thing that makes the movie tick is the effort that the director has taken in
making sure that everything is perfectly co-ordinated. The rich sets adds colour to the
predictable storyline.
The former Ms World definitely stood
out both as a simpleton and as a star. Her acting skills has improved over the years and
though this may not be the best yet, she must be given some credit.
Both Akshay and Anil, one as the
doe-eyed lover boy and the other as the arrogant musician gave a commendable performance.
However, there were times when they were rather over bearing. Overtly dramatic, I should
say.
After a while, the movie sort of grows on you. It is not
incredible or anything, just ordinary in an intense way. I would recommend a watch once
before writing it off completely. |
