Muthalvan (tam)
Arjun is a cameraman
working for a television station. Raguvaran is a typical corrupt chief minister surrounded
by his henchmen and yes-men cronies who would gladly do anything for him. One day, a young
college student is beaten up by a rival group and this sparks off a series of events that
lead to the eventual challenge posed by Raguvaran to Arjun to become a chief minister for
24 hours. Arjun accepts this challenge reluctantly and the rest of the movie deals with
Arjun as a one day Chief Minister and how he wins the heart of the people. Starring:
Arjun, Manisha Koirala, Raguvaran, Vadivelu & Manivannan |

Music Director: AR Rahman
Lyrics: Vairamuthu
Director: Shankar
Director Shankar known for his other
movies like Kathalan, Indian and Gentleman has certainly taken pains to film this big
budgeted movie filled with extravaganza and special effects.
I personally thought Manisha
Koirala's acting was not all that great. Perhaps that was because there was not much scope
for her to show off her talents since it was a hero-oriented movie. However, credit must
be given to her cute way of dancing to the music penned by AR Rahman.
The story itself is somewhat a
rehash of old movies but add good music and a fairly good cast and you have an
entertaining three hours.
Watch this movie for the music,
cinematography and antics of Vadivelu and Manivannan. Oh! Sushmita Sen's dance to Shakalaka
Baby is bound to capture your attention. The story, well, it is not all that bad. It
makes you think, 'gee, I wish it was as simple as that'. |
