I'm pretty sure that many of you out there will have the impression that 'The Insider' will be a action packed blast fest after noting the cast that includes Al Pacino. Don't expect anything at all like that from this title. 'The Insider' is a political thriller which is basically what many people classify as a 'talking' show. Unless you are prepared to sit down and really listen to the script I suggest you spend that RM9 and watch 'The Beach' or something else (no offense to those Leo fans out there).

This movie is based on real life history of the 'tobacco wars' in the late 1980's. The story evolves around Jeffry Wigand, played by Russel Crowe who was the main witness in the lawsuits that were filed by the state of Mississippi and 49 other states against the tobacco industry. Upon losing the lawsuit, the industry lost a good lump sum of $246 billion dollars. Most of you reading this might be going wide eyed, but do remember how many people you see smoking a fag each day. You do the math. As for Al Pacino, he plays Lowell Bergman, a reporter and the producer of '60 Minutes', a show run by CBS.

His duty was to tape Jeffry Wigand's testimony and air it on '60 Minutes' so as to expose the truth about the tobacco giants. Of course it all sounds so simple, but things take a slide downhill as matters become more complicated. I will leave that for anyone still interested to find out for themselves.

Although the subject matter is considered very mature, probably boring to a lot of people, 'The Insider' does have its good dose of suspense, mostly from anticipation of what will happen next. Played by an incredible cast, this movie will not disappoint anybody that likes a good, pace by pace movie with many a good argument scenes. Simply one of, if not the best of its kind, 'The Insider' takes a good poke at all the people out there who smoke. Do give it a try if you are interested in learning about a few facts and history. Once again I stress, NOT for action packed lovers or fans who want to drool over the cast. (unless you find haggard men attractive) If you`re in for the talk, then this will be a brilliant show.
