Fight Club (eng)
Official Site
You are not your job. You are not how much you have in the bank. You are not the contents of your wallet. You are not a beautiful and unique snowflake. What happens first is you can't sleep. What happens then is there's a gun in your mouth. And what happens next is you meet Tyler Durden. Let me tell you about Tyler. He had a plan. In Tyler we trusted. Tyler says the things you own, end up owning you. It's only after you've lost everything that you're free to do anything. Fight Club represents that kind of freedom. First rule of Fight Club: You do not talk about Fight Club. Second rule of Fight Club: You do not talk about Fight Club. Tyler says self-destruction might be the answer.

Wow! What a movie. The faint-hearted, be warned! This is not for you. It's shocking, it's bloody, it's controversial, it's vulgar. And I was rather surprised our paternalistic Malaysian censorship board allowed it to be screened, albeit with lots of cuts. It's really an 'unconventional' kind of show. But wait! You won't understand the movie unless you watch it till the end. Kinda like "Sixth Sense".

The film begins, literally, inside the head of its narrator (Edward Norton), and we see him holding a gun in his mouth. Then begins the flashback to see what led to this moment. Troubled by his inability to sleep, life is a real dread. Every waking moment is a dream floating by, one is an observer of his own life and not a player.

He begs a doctor for pills to help him sleep. Instead, the doctor tells him to visit a weekly testicular cancer victims' group to "see what real suffering is like." At the meeting, oh, a revelation. By pretending to be a fellow sufferer, he manages to cry his heart out and all his pent up frustrations of nothing in particular. Suddenly, he could now sleep like a baby and he starts attending these such support group, each evening pretending to be suffering from some kind of ailment of another, just to cry it all out.

All is well until he meets Marla Singer (Helena Bonham Carter), another fake who attends the support group circuit because it's "cheaper than a movie and there's free coffee.'' Now he cannot cry and his insomnia soon returns.

Then, he meets Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt), a self-assured man. They bond during a night of drinking, and started fighting just for the heck-of-it. On an adrenaline rush after the violent release, they decide to fight on a weekly basis. Other men witness the sparring and, in short order, Fight Club is born, an unspoken but understood phenomena that spreads like wildfire.

But he soon begins to notice that his every waking moment is a blur. How long has he been asleep? Why is Tyler recruiting men for Project Mayhem? Why is he not told of it? What is the reason for all the chaos? And why, why is Tyler is missing?

If you can sit through all the gore, vulgarity and watch a bunch of grown men beating the asses out of each other, then you will appreciate the movie. Pretty good, in my book. Remember, it's not for the squeamish. It isn't often a movie like this comes around, and it would be a shame to miss it.
