Now that they have something in common, Nicole and Chase reluctantly join forces. Their scheme: date each other to attract the interest and jealousy of their respective romantic prey. But in the midst of planning a gala centennial celebration, Nicole and Chase find that the one they always wanted was closer than they ever realized.

The premise in a sentence: A high school queen and her nerdy next door neighbor use each other to get noticed by their former love interests.

Before you dismiss this as another bad teen flick, I got news for you, this one isn't so bad and except for a predictable ending, I rather enjoyed it and even laughed once or twice.

The plot reads like most of the teenage films released recently, but with a more comic approach and less focus on the sexual conquest and more focus on the intricate weave of high school relationships and pecking orders. Films like "Cruel Intentions", "She's All That", "10 Things I Hate About You", "Can't Hardly Wait" and "Teaching Mrs. Tingle" seem to be telling us that all teens are hormonally and mentally out of control. This film has a more innocent approach.

Melissa Joan Hart (Sabrina, The Teenage Witch) is at her bouncy best as Nicole the girl who has it all and realizes that having it all may not be enough. Adrian Grenier, as Chase her next door neighbor, is the poster boy for angst. He uses all the gloomy emotions a teenage guy carries around in his mental book bag. The script has its weird moments but it's lively, and the cast is even livelier.

When Nicole's scheme to land the school basketball star unravels the same night that Chase gets dumped by his girlfriend, Nicole hatches another plan. She calculates that after a makeover, Chase would be an acceptable escort to the prom. And also that once her ex and his ex see Nicole and Chase together, they will grow jealous and want them back. So Chase allows Nicole to give him a makeover. And somewhere between the mall and the prom, they make over each other's hearts.

This is a fun movie to watch, it's not unforgettable, but enough a distraction and laughs for the afternoon.
