In the world of psychological thrillers with moody,
unreal story of one man's obsession, this film has nothing but
slow moving parts and brain matter to confuse a person for
hours after one has watched the show.
While on the mission to find
the gather information and photographs ( henceforth the reason
for his codename, The Eye), he was shocked when he witnessed
the cold-blooded murder that Joanna Eris committed. Even then,
The Eye found himself being attracted to the young lady who
was so adept at disguise and so elusive that she has eluded
police with amazing skill.
Tracking Joanna down was also
being encouraged by his long lost daughter who was a 'voice
and vision' in his own mind. Both he and his daughter had long
conversations on what to do while on the mission and
occasional chats about the reason he left her and her mom.
In the midst of the movie when
Joanna found a blind sophisticated wine merchant Alex Leonard
(Patrick Bergen), they seem have gotten to a great start. The
Eye realised that if he doesn't take steps to do something, he
might lose Joanna to this man so he took some drastic measures
that made Joanna run to Alaska.
The movie was not nearly as
good as I had thought it would be. Having to make one's mind
think in overdrive is not what I would call an enjoyable
movie. This is like a game show. One has to figure and
comprehend things like his daughter 'appear' to him on and
off? How on earth can a person fall in love with one who kills
and keeps on doing so. And what is the obsession with The
Eye's hi-tech spy gizmos that caused him to dislike being in
contact with the real world?
Even if 'Eye of the Beholder'
doesn't quite live up, it still has a lot of intellectual fun
because there are so few movies that make us sit up, listen
and concentrate just to follow and understand the story. On a
final note,if you like movies that make your head go in a
confused mode, try this movie out.
